Riobamba, Ecuador

So there’s not a whole lot to do in Riobamba, except for the “Devil’s Nose” train ride which we opted not to do since it took an entire day, and one of my friends here said it was kinda boring. We ended up staying at a hostal that my guide book recommended that turned out to be total shit (I later sent a 10 page email to the guide book people telling them about all the good and bad stuff I experienced in Ecuador, and suggested that they take this place out).

There wasn’t much to do here, and I ended up getting violently sick… so sick that I couldn’t eat but half of a tiny slice of really good pizza for dinner. But we spent some time shopping at the market and Jenna found some things for her friends and I found a nice chess set. I’d never played chess before, ever, until Jenna showed me how when we were in Baños. I actually thought it was really hard for some reason, but it’s not. So if anyone wants to play chess when I get back to Athens, I’m game.

After calling my dad and getting the info on what drugs I needed to take, I went to a pharmacy and loaded up.

The next morning I felt much better, so we caught a bus to Cuenca…
