New Mates of State

New song from Mates of State !!!

If it doesn’t make you want to dance, you must be completely deaf.

Lush Cafe is Closed

Lush Cafe — the home of upscale vegan eating in Atlanta — is closed! They plan to re-open in a new location within the next 6 months. But still this is bad news. I was planning to go eat there in a couple weeks. Now where the hell am I gonna go? Even though I’m not vegetarian anymore… this place had the best food of any restaurant and there is seriously nowhere else I want to eat in Atlanta. Goddamnit.

Happy Birthday to Me

  1. Eh.

Not much to say. 2006 doesn’t compare to last year when I spent my birthday with Lauren. Or the year before when I went to see Mates of State and they let me make the set list (too bad I didn’t record that one but I was wasted). This year? Not a damn thing planned. I think I’m going to have to defer partying until Friday.

Although I do have a coupon for free ice cream from the Cold Stone Creamery. Mmm.

And I got two emails from Elke (my bff in Austria) that made me happy.

And I got a travel book from Nikola that looks like a good read.

And I got to see my dad and my stepmom a couple days ago.

And I get to see my mom this coming weekend.

I guess it’s not a bad birthday after all.

Listen Up

Here are a few random things I’ve been listening to lately.

Denali

Gunner [mp3 4.4MB]
The Instinct [mp3 5.5MB]
I really miss this band. They were from Virginia… I saw them in the Fall of 2003. They rocked, and then broke up shortly after. Unfortunately they only put out two albums. The lead singer (the true attraction) went on to form a new band called Ambulette, which should be releasing their first album any day now.

Wir sind Helden

Muessen Nur Wollen [mp3 4.9MB]
Denkmal [mp3 4.5MB]
The first time I heard Wir sind Helden (We are heroes) was in Ecuador. Elke, my friend from Austria, had a couple of their songs on her MiniDisc player. I listened to them over and over in the middle of the Ecuadorian cloud forest. Good times. And whenever I hear this band, they will always remind me of her and the adventures we had last summer.

Eco Books

Those should keep me busy. Hell of a lot more interesting than reading Postharvest Plant Biology. Free time, where did you go? I want you back.
