Recently, I tried to find some great headphones to wear during my upcoming bike tour. After becoming tired of the stock iPod headphones [sound like crap], plus the Griffin EarThumps [which are extremely susceptible to wind noise], I went looking for something that would give me an experience that rivaled my studio monitors at home while also keeping out the road noise.
Some of the best recommendations were for the Shure E2C sound isolating type, so I ordered a pair from Amazon. I’ve always been skeptical of in-ear headphones, especially since they never seem to fit my ears well, fall out, and aren’t comfortable. I’m happy to report that this was not the case with the E2C’s. I give them an A+ for sound quality and general satisfaction all around.

Well, it’s been an interesting 10 years.
Went to school for 3 years. Didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life.
Ran my own publishing company for a few years while in school. Sold it.
Dropped out, worked in Atlanta for a while making $4,000/month.
Moved to Vermont for a year, worked as a prep cook in an Asian restaurant.
Joined the Air Force, served 3 years including 98 days in Saudi Arabia.
Worked as a cable guy for several months while waiting to start school.
Went back to college, majored in Horticulture at UGA.
And now, I graduate in 4 weeks.
Then I’m taking time off to trek from coast-to-coast and back on my bicycle.
With any luck, this time next year I’ll be at NCSU pursuing an MS in Crop Science.
What a trip!
+/- (plus/minus) played at the Earl last night in Atlanta.
I baked brownies for them in recognition of the American food tour.
[No, they were not “special” brownies. Unless you count cinnamon and soymilk.]
They asked me to get on stage during one song and film them rocking.
So, I did. The footage may appear on the upcoming DVD?

Here’s a sample of the show:
You Or Your Memory [3.4 MB MP3]
I saw The Mountain Goats at the Earl last night with some friends.
It was completely amazing.
The recording sounds great.
And John Darnielle gave me a pat on the back and said “Thanks bud!” when I complimented him after the show, in the voice and manner that only he can do. He also said I should come see him when I move to Raleigh.
What a great night.
Next, +/- (plus/minus) on Tuesday.
