Living Off The Land

The more I read about Peak Oil the more it scares the shit out of me. Fortunately, Laura and I have a place to go when it all goes down.

But I wonder if we’ll get there soon enough, if we can build our house fast enough, and become self-sustainable enough, in time to weather the storm?

This is what I think about.

That, and buying an arsenal.

One Year Ago

A year ago today I was on my bike trip from Georgia to Texas…

Day 9: Bay St. Louis, MS to New Orleans, LA

Unreal.

Uruguay

A group of us from NCSU went to Uruguay from December 7-17th to visit a variety of organic farms and to establish relationships for future studies. Since the climate there is similar to NC, there are a lot of practices that can be used in both places. We saw a lot that impressed us, and a few things that could be improved. This year, a few Uruguayan students are coming to NCSU as part of an exchange program. Yay!

Here are some pics.

The rest are in my CEFS in Uruguay set on Flickr.
