Examples of Republican Corruption

These, just from the past few days:

Lose Your House, Lose Your Vote

The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County Michigan, a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of the state GOP’s effort to challenge some voters on Election Day.

Wow, blocking voters who are predominantly black, and also likely to be pissed about the economy? Just standard operating procedure for the GOP.

Mississippi’s Ballot Trick

Mississippi’s [Republican] governor, Haley Barbour, and its secretary of state have come up with a particularly cynical dirty trick for the November election. Let’s call it: “Where’s the Senate race?”

Defying state law, they have decided to hide a hard-fought race for the United States Senate at the bottom of the ballot [below less significant elections, such as state and county races], where they clearly are hoping some voters will overlook it. Their proposed design is not only illegal. It shows a deep contempt for Mississippi’s voters.

Republicans have long had a lock on the state’s two Senate seats. But this year, former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, a Democrat, has been running close to Senator Roger Wicker, a Republican, in the polls. Mr. Wicker was appointed to the seat by Governor Barbour in late December after Trent Lott stepped down.

So what’s their plan if (when) this deception gets shot down? They want to remove party affiliations from the ballot. That’s right, the Republicans don’t want Mississippi voters to know exactly who is the Republican candidate.
